Grow a Garden and Grow Yourself was designed and implemented for my special needs students as a way for them to “hold
on” to difficult academic concepts taught and a fun way to engage sometimes difficult students. Fast forward to the present day a
reframe (create a different way of looking at a situation or thing, that you had not considered) of gardening is needed. My talk is
a view of wellness through a different lens, place, and space where individuals, families, and communities can gather to connect
with nature. Places and spaces that offer engaging approaches through horticulture activities. Research has proven that
horticulture activities have a profound impact on our emotional social and physical wellbeing. My perspective of the new essential is a call back to what will serve us
best, a connection with our natural environment through plant-based interventions.

Dena is the Founder and Program Designer of Natural Ground 1 the company called to view

fruits and vegetables of all kinds within reach in her neighborhood. With certificates in Plant
Essences and Horticultural Therapy, she shares her passion of viewing wellness through a different lens through plant-based
interventions and personal growth initiatives. She has implemented and counseled individuals, families, and communities on the

accessible to all people. Dena is the Founder and Program Designer of Natural Ground 1 the company called to view wellness through a different lens.
